Igbo Adjectives, Exercises and Sign Up for April Virtual Meeting

Ndewo nu ooo! Hello, you all!
Nkọwa aha (adjectives) are words that describe people, places, and things, making our conversations more vivid and expressive. They allow us to add detail and clarity by showing qualities like size, color, or condition, for example, big (nnukwu) vs. small (obere/obele) or good (ezigbo/ ọma) vs. bad (ọjọọ/ajọ).
At our last Igbo Language Club meeting, we explored these descriptive words in action, practicing everyday adjectives through a mini lesson, pop quiz, example sentences, and breakout rooms. Everyone had the chance to build confidence and expand their vocabulary in a supportive, community-centered space.
Some adjectives to add to your everyday vocabulary:
🦢Ọcha (white) 📏 Mkpụmkpụ (short) ⬅️ Aka ekpa (left) 👍🏾 Ezigbo/ Ọma (good) 🤏🏾 Nso (close) 🏃🏾♀️ Ọsịsọ /Ngwa Ngwa (fast) | 🎩 Ojii (black) 🦒 Ogonogo/ Ogologo (tall) ➡️ Aka nri/ nni (right) 👎🏾 Ọjọọ/Ajọ (bad) 👐🏾 Anya (far) 🐢 Nwayọ (slow) |
For audio from the lesson and to learn more, check out the slides from the meeting to review what you may have missed.
These Igbo exercises include useful adjectives and phrases to help you better understand the lesson.
