Cardinal Numbers, the 'To Be' Verbs, the 'To Live' Verb, and Describing Your Age and Where You Live in Igbo

Ndewo! (Hello!) Daalụ (thank you) to everyone who joined the January meeting this past weekend! If you're new to the club, nnọọ (welcome)—we’re thrilled to have you! You are now part of a growing community dedicated to preserving Igbo culture through language learning. If you were unable to attend the session, you'll find an outline of everything we covered below.

Here’s what we covered:

In this session, we had a very special guest, Chinemerem Nwanze, an Igbo culture and language enthusiast. Chinemerem is passionate about ensuring that Igbo culture is passed down from generation to generation and that Igbo youth reclaim their heritage. She is the author of Kwezuonu! A Beginner’s Guide to the Igbo Language, a great book for all Igbo learners. Be sure to check it out and support her by leaving a positive review on Amazon! She is also active on TikTok, where she shares insights about Igbo language and culture.

  • 🖥️ The slides from the January session include the lesson and audio recordings, allowing you to follow along with the content.

  • 🗣️ Chinemerem taught us about Igbo cardinal numbers, the 'to be' verbs, including ịbụ, ịdị, inọ, the 'to live' verb ibi, and how to describe your age and where you live in Igbo.

  • 🧠 Included in the slides are 20 'Test Your Knowledge' fill-in-the-blank questions to help you practice using ịbụ, ịdị, inọ, and ibi properly in sentences. Correct answers are also provided so you can check your responses.
